My “On The Fly” 30 Minute Elliptical Workout

March 6, 2012

Pumps! What is UP?!?!

Yours truly is coming at ya LIVE! from the comfort of her bed, wrapped in a snuggie, no less. wink I'm experiencing a massive head cold a la momento - stuffy nose, pressure headache, ear ache, sneezing, the works!

But, clearly, I wouldn't let it stop me from delivering the goods to your sexy eyeballs. <Sigh>. That's what little sleep + cocktails + talking too much will do to you. It's my moment to callate! (translation: "shut up!" en Español). Which is PERFECT for one who best expresses herself in the form of writing.

heartAWwwWwwww YeeeeeeeeAaaaaaaaaaaaaaAaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh heart

So here's what's on the agenda for today:

"On-The-Fly" 30-Minute Elliptical Workout

The title is indicative of the fact that I walked into the gym, expecting to do a 45-minute incline workout on the treadmill, but much to my dismay, both 'mills were taken!

angryangryangryGrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhangryangryangry

BUT, you can't let the unexpected ruin you workout, Dolls!

You must work with what you have!

...and an elliptical I did have! So I hopped my bootylicious self onto the machine, turned up my headphones, and wouldn't ya know, a new workout was born. smiley

Here's what it looked like:

*My elliptical machine does not have an incline option, but I encourage you to customize my workout to make it YOUR OWN! yes

**For minutes 5-15 and 20-30, alternate going backward and forward every minute!***

Minutes             Resistance             Speed

0-5                             4                      110-130

5-15                           8                      120-140

15-20                         6                      130-150

20-30                        10                     120-130

This moderate workout should leave you nice & sweaty yes...I added 15 more minutes to my workout by taking it home on the treadmill (yay! nobody was on it!). Here's what that looked like:

Minutes                 Incline                     Speed

0-4                             8                               4

4-9                             1                              6.5

9-13                           8                               4

13-15                         0                              4.5

That's a wrap on the workout, and today's post, My Bunny Lovers ...

Saucy Little Number (SLN) Reaches DOUBLE “F” STANDARDS

January 30, 2012

Good Morning Lover Pies of My Life!

Did y'all have

"HAPPY, HEALTHY, SAUCY, SEXY, COMFY, COZY WEEKENDS!!!???"

I sure hope so! ...Truth be told, mine got off to a kinky start. Friday was an absolute S-show for me-Weather was nasty, clouds of dust & chaos stormed my apt, wrong carpet was ordered, and our train out of the City was delayed 98 minutes because it hit a stalled car (thank goodness, no one was in the car). MAJOR Oy vey! HOWEVER, upon reaching our destination, the remainder of the weekend was indeed *perfection.* Think long walks on the beach, movie marathons, & major snuggles! <gag & eyeball rolling alert!>yes

...Moving on, how did everyone enjoy VLOG NUMBER CUATRO?!? Thank you SO MUCH for listening & watching my unabashedly nerdy self! I am learning A LOT on the editing front, and also behind the cam! I mean, I'm not Talk-show host material yet...but I'll get there! yes *I'd also like to apologize for the sh*tty lighting. That problem has been FIXED, so next Vlog will be much enlightenedbrighter and better!enlightened For those who have not yet had the pleasure of viewing, get those eyeballs in check and click here! --> http://bit.ly/yKR1iz

...or scroll that mouse of yours on down to the very next post! BAM!

With the warm, fuzzy welcome behind us, what do you say we

GET STRAIGHT TO "THA BIDNESS"!?!?

Allow me to introduce my new, Saucy Little Number (SLN) by, yet againLUCY ACTIVEWEAR --> http://www.lucy.com/

It should go without saying that, indeed

heartI LOVE LUCYheart

I'm wearing the newest sassy, classy addition to their "explore" line of everyday apparel. Meet the

"Walkabout Dress"

(Shown in Powder Blue).

Let me VOGUE-it-out for y'all a bit before I go into further detail...wink

Not only is this dress COMFORTABLE, but it's also RIDICULOUSLY GOOD LOOKING!

Here is WHY I'M OBSESSED with this SLN:

  1. It's Fashion-Forward for ALL:  That's right, this dress reached double-F standards in my book! I must admit, I didn't know what I was in for, as many active wear companies that attempt everyday wear fail miserably - Most of it's plain dowdy and gross, but the cut of the dress is tailored to fit & it flatters exceptionally! I would even venture on to say that it would work well on ALL BODY TYPES! And that's what I love about it so much! I am also a fan of the starched collar, front pockets (not too wide/close), wrap-around belt (cinch that waist!), and 3/4 length sleeves with cuff-rolling button option. *Below: shown with cuff buttoned/shortened*

  1. It's Comfortable: This didn't come as a big surprise, being that it was made by and active wear company, but it still scores MASSIVE points! As someone who LIVES in workout gear during the day (unless required to get dolled for a special occasion) this is something I can still "live in," all while looking sleek & trés chic! The fabric is stretch woven, which allows for a wide range of motion & activities while wearing!
  2. It's Travel-friendly: Roll this baby up, shove it in any suitcase, purse, or duffel, and it'll still come out looking like a million bucks! The fabric is wrinkle-resistant. It also dries incredibly fast (in case there's spill-age mid-flight). It also weighs close to nothing, takes up almost no space, and can be worn in a variety of ways...which brings me to my last point:
  3. It's Versatile! You can dress this up with some serious pumps, like these babies:

Or go casual with some chic slippers a la Stubbs & Wooton

Or sandal it up!

Needless to say, this dress certainly lives up to it's name! You'll be "walking- about" for hours in this frock! yesyesyes

That's all I have for ya today, Luvahs!

Stay tuned for more Daily Dubie updates & VLOG #5! I hope to help you make this week your BEST YET! yes

Until next time...

Much Love heart

Mrs. Daily D xoxo kiss

Change it Up…OR DOWN!

January 9, 2012

Good Morning Sweet Sunshines of My Life!!!

What-is-haaaaaaaappppppppppening?!?!? ... <Long Sigh>... So, I did it! I DID IT! Hell to the Yeah!

A special thank you to all who took the time to watch my first Vlog post! Indeed, it was muy embarrassing, but I am definitely starting to warm up to the idea of ME behind a C-A-M-E-R-A! Woop! Woop! I have BIG PLANS for

DDTV

So get your ears & eyeballs ready for ACTION!

Vloggishness will happen EVERY FRIDAY, so mark those Cals, Peeps...or you're bound to miss something really Major Maje!

Vlogging aside, I would like to talk about

#BunBurning in the New Year!

How is yours going?! Are you taking things up a notch?! Keeping things funky & fresh?! ...not doing a damn thing <cough cough>?

Whatever it may be, the

*Words of Wisdom*

I have for you, are to

MAKE A CHANGE!!!

...But there's a catch, Dolls. You see, making a change doesn't necessarily mean taking things UP a notch. No. For you, it might be to tone things DOWN, and that's perfectly acceptable, and in fact, ENCOURAGED! Especially now, when we light a fire under our a$$ to workout like animals! Sometimes, it's just too much - too intense, or not the right kind of intense. Whatever it may be, change things up in the best interest of YOUR MIND & BODY. Maybe you need to lay off on the boot camp classes, and instead, incorporate more "Me" time - reading, walking with your BFF/BF, catching a movie, cooking dinner - WHATEVER! ...Because this Sister knows that if you ain't enjoyin' it, it ain't worth it!

Speaking from personal experience, while in California over the holiday, I didn't step foot inside a gym, and instead opted to go on daily power walks outside, and take a Pilates class once a week. The #Bunburning factor was definitely on the lower end of the spectrum, considering that I previously committed myself to rigorous 40-50 minute cardio blasts in the gym on a regular basis. But guess what?! I felt bloody amazing! Oddly, I even felt slimmer, and more energized - I thought to myself, what the heck?! But, when I returned to New York last Tuesday, I thought 'it was time' to resume my supercharged, kick-a$$ treadmill routines, but, unfortunately, they left me feeling burnt-out & crabby more than anything, so that's when I knew I needed to Change My Ish Up!

For me, this meant taking things DOWN a notch! That's right Dollie Pies, I needed to slow the boat.

I've, instead, incorporated more outside walking (when weather permits) mixed with some more moderate inside cardio, twice weekly Vinyasa Yoga classes, and of course, my standard Pilates private. This seems to be My Golden Ticket, so I'm sticking to it!

THAT's WuSSSUUUUP!

...And that's also all I have for you folks today! As always, it's been BAH-NANAS checking in with your Beautiful Eyeballs!

ENJOY your week! Big Kisses for ALL!

Love, heart

Workout A La Carte

December 5, 2011

Good Morning & Afternoon My Beautiful Readers!!!

After being Daily Dubie-Deprived last week, I thought I would waste no time PRODUCING this week!  ...and what better way to kick things off, than with a

Badace Bun Burner Post ?!?!?!?

A choice I made, considering the following:

  • It's MondayIt's important to start your week off with a serious sweat sesh! Doing so will not only release those happy-making neurotransmitters we love (endorphins), but they will also increase your levels of productivity, as exercise helps sharpen your focus. Exercising on Monday will leave you feeling lean, mean, and ready to take on the challenge of the work week!
  • The Holiday Season is HERE! Which also means more, more, and MORE of EVERYTHING! - Namely, food & drink. In order to indulge, you must exercise, so as not to bulge! Keep that sexy body of yours in check with at least thrice-weekly workouts!

Are you with me on this BBB (Bun-Burning-Business), Dolls?! ...

Now that we've established the importance of a nice, sweaty workout-especially on a Monday-let's cut right to my

Monday Mashup!

I like to dedicate my Monday workouts to a long, yet moderate-to-challenging, 50-60 minute cardio blast. But that's a long workout for me, so I tend to get bored quite easily. Mashing up my workouts is KEY to keeping me motivated! Easy ways to do this, are to workout a la carte, as in use bits and pieces of your existing workouts, and combine them to form a new, fresh, routine. It's like magic! It requires little-no thought process at all! (which is fabulous for Monday) Seriously...

Here is how this can be done...

Today, I combined two separate workouts and also added in my own, on-the-fly, routine for the remaining 10 minutes.

I did 30 minutes of this workout, taken from @FitSugar

Then did 10 minutes from this workout, taken from @PBFingers

For the last 5 minutes, I went back to the first workout- 3 minutes @ 6.0, 1 minute @ 7.5, then last minute @ 6.0.

I wrapped things up on the elliptical for 10 mas minutos...

Minutes                        Level

0-1                                  8.0

1-2                                  8.0  -Reverse

2-3                                  8.0

3-4                                  8.0  -Reverse

4-5                                  8.0

5-6                                  8.0  -Reverse

6-7                                  8.0

7-8                                  8.0  -Reverse

8-10                                8.0

...And you're done!

I find that when I combine a variety of different workouts into one, the time flies!

So....when in doubt, and in a rut, take bits and pieces of various workouts you already know & make them feel fresh again!

It's as easy as Pie

That's all for today Lovies! ... I need to get crackin' on Module 25 of my Health Coaching Curriculum!

PS: Remember to send me your email address if you want to get-in on my monthly Jazzy Journals - set to debut THIS MONTH!!! They will be your go-to source to for HEALTHY information that is presented in a FOCUSED, FABULOUS & FUN way! ... It will push @DailyDubie topics even further, providing you with more detail & depth. yes ...Brought to you by...

Cheers to a HAPPY + HEALTHY + MONDAY!!!

When Bun-Burning leads to BURN-OUT!

November 8, 2011

What's up Luvahs?!?!... I'm BACK! ...and so soon, I know! Very exciting! cool

Now, I'm going to go off on a teeny, tiny tangent really quick, to share some sexy photos of Me & HB on our Anniversary.

<Enter>: Sexy Photoshoot

Location: Mr. Chow @ 57th Street - NYC original, baby!

*With this photo here...is it obvious who thought they looked hot?! <cough> <cough> ...Certainly it's wasn't my precious husband, who's head I cut-off (even though he does look gorge!)...A very cringe-worthy moment, indeed. But at least I admit it! No fronting going on here...Baaaaahahahahaha!

In fact, I find it even more cringe-able when I see people post photos of themselves, that they SO OBVIOUSLY posed for - especially when everyone else in the photo is looking the other way, or closing their eyes - LOL. Hey, we've all done it. Admit it. Own it. Love it.

Photoshoot nonsense aside, let's get on with the show already!!! ... BUN BURNING, here we come! As per my last post, I would like to address this issue we all experience at some point, and that is, when we over-do things at the gym, and when to know it's time to ease-up, and be kind to your body

Let's Chat: When Bun-Burning leads to BURN-OUT!

Over the past few weeks, I've been very jazzed about the new treadmill workouts I've been doing- thanks to @PBFingers! However, I felt a burnout coming on after a few weeks time. These treadmill exercises all implement great use of the incline (which I LOVE), but I started to feel exhausted, and depleted post-exercise, instead of energized and strong. If I did not listen to my body, lord knows my a$$ would be up to my neck by now-as an incline is known to be a fabulous booty-booster! But thankfully, I listened, and my buns are right where they should be wink.

If your workout leaves you feeling exhausted, depleted, and achy, take that as a sign you need to LIGHTEN UP THE LOAD!

I knew that I had to ease-up, and so I did! Here are ways you can take a hiatus from your intense workout, without having to give the peace sign to your gym:

  • Walk it out! --> Walking is a wonderful, low-impact way to get in cardio!
  • Pilates --> A personal favorite, Pilates works wonders on your body - strengthening and lengthening every square inch of it! It's also low-impact, and extremely therapeutic, commonly used for physical rehabilitation.
  • Yoga --> Keeps you limber, and can be a very restorative practice, (as well as extremely challenging).
  • Stretching --> It is SO important to stretch DAILY, especially if you work out 5+ times a week. The tighter you are, the more prone to injury you are. Stretch! Stretch! Stretch!
  • Elliptical --> A great, low-impact, way to get in your cardio - can be equally as effective as the treadmill.
  • Hot Salt Bath
  • Massage

And last, but certainly not least...I leave you with this:

The world won't end if you have to take a few days off from exercise! BE OKAY WITH THAT! Think of it as a TREAT to your body! In good time, your body will recover, and be ready for action again, if you allow it the rest it needs. The price you pay for injury is much worse than the price you pay for skipping out on the gym

Know it. Live it. Love it.

Now go on already, and SPOIL your Buns!laugh They deserve it sometimes!

I'm out for now, Lovers! It's been swell!

Muchos Besos! kiss

What’s to come in the world of bun burning…

November 8, 2011

Hello! Hello! & HAPPY TUESDAY, My Beautiful People! cool

I'm going to talk BUN BURNING, and knowing when to lighten up the load in the gym - sometimes we can overexert ourselves, and get a little carried away with the bun burning! I am GUILTY of it myself, which is why (duh!) I can relate firsthand! I will also be posting some NEW workouts! yes

Now, I ask that you sit tight, take a deep breath, and wait patiently for the unveiling of a new DD Bun-Burning post!

Be Happy * Be Healthy * Be Grateful.

Peanut Buttery Workouts

October 13, 2011

Lovernesses!!!

Hello! Hello! How are you? We're on the cusp of the week's end. Get excited. It's gonna be a doozy!

...So I totally failed at posting an "update soon" ...as I so confidently tweeted yesterday afternoon. What can I say sh*t happens -sorry mama, had to say itwink

The honest truth is that I got distracted juggling 442937057032 things at once, and by the time I actually remembered to tend to Daily Dubishness, I just didn't have the juice. Well that, and I wanted nothing to do with my computer when it came down to it...other than listening to Spotifyand perusing photos of my fellow celebrity friends on Popsugar and other websites of the like - you know, mindless nonsenseBeing the straight shooter I am, I might as well go on to admit that I also tuned into Kim & Kris' Fairytale Wedding. <sigh>. For the record, I don't think very highly of Kim's now-husband. I'll avoid labeling him as a total deushbag-Oops, looks like I just did...

The Kardashians aside, let's move on to Bigger & Better things - like the fresh new  Treadmill workouts I have been working my way through!

*For the record, I used to workout at Burn60, when I lived in L.A., and these workouts felt like I was in a B60 class - HARD!*

I spotted these fierce workouts on Peanut Butter Fingers, and ever since then, I've had my hands filled-literally! --> http://www.pbfingers.com/2011/10/10/treadmill-workouts/

For added interest, here's another ...

Now, as someone who would rather watch a Vin Diesel movie than run at a steady pace on the treadmill for 50 minutes, I particularly love these workouts! Here is why:

  • Each 20, 25, 30, 40 minute workout works you to capacity in the allotted time. (you don't need to add more time if you don't want/need to - they're effective enough on own!).
  • Intervals make time pass quick!
  • You will drip in sweat (if you don't cheat!).

So thank you, Julie! You've definitely given way to some major bun-burning over here! As you can see, I printed out the workouts, and cut them out individually. I keep them in my entry console, so that I can grab them on my way out the door, and into the gym. Convenience, Dolls...It's all about the convenience. yes

Before I leave your precious eyeballs for the weekend, yes, I said "WEEKEND," I would like to give myself a Loud & Proud shout out in regards to my up-and-coming

Health Counseling Business

It's starting to get so Major, Dolls! I hope it will knock your socks off! As you would understand, it does take time, but, I'm getting closeNow, I would like to that this moment to

Welcome and encourage anyone and everyone, ladies and gentlemen, to contact me if you're interested in doing a Health Consulation. You're location is irrelevant, as I conduct EVERYTHING over the TELEPHONE. yes (unless, of course, there is a special request to meet in person).

Now go on! You know the drill:

  • Email, Comment, Tweet, Facebook, Phone Me! 24 hours a day...7 days a week...at your service. wink

That's all for now Pumpkins! I hope you've enjoyed yourselves.

kiss Big Kisses for the Weekend! kiss

Good Morning Pumps! (<--short for "Pumpkins"-duh)

Qua pasa?!? Today is all about putting the

And You're DONE. cool

Fewf. I got exhausted all over again just typing that.

Now, In keeping with the the subject of working out, I am finally ready to share my beloved Pilates Studio with y'all -(I was being a bit selfish/stingy by keeping it a secret). After searching high and low for a studio that was up to my standards, I truly feel as though I found a jewel in

One Body Pilates

Website --> http://www.onebodypilatesnyc.com/

I work one-on-one with owner, Howard Schissler, who is just fantastic! As a past dancer himself, he is a technique-nazi, which has significantly improved my form, which in turn has affected the way I move my body (much deeper, at a more intense level), and my overall body awareness. If you live in the New York City area, I highly recommend OBP. It embodies everything that's missing from most pilates group classes. It's on a whole other level.

That's a wrap for now, Lovers!

Until next time...
