Cool off your oats!

Darlings, Darlings, Darlings… What is UUUUUUUUUUUP?

Holy Mother of God…I’m gonna shoot straight:

The Dubes is toasted in the energy department.

It’s those damn Olympic Games! Don’t get me wrong, I LIVE for watching these incredible athletes perform and compete, but what the eff is up with them going on into all hours of the evening?

Number 1: New York Times totally blew the medal news yesterday afternoon since they’re not shown live, which got me hot and bothered.

Number 2: It’s not particularly sleep-inducing to watch the Olympics before bed. I felt my entire body tighten as I waited in anticipation to see if landings were stuck and medals were won. Oy vey! 

So, yeah…I woke up a tad disheveled this morning. So sue me. Pilates and a power smoothie (recipe to be posted soon!) certainly helped, but sometimes there ain’t nothin’ you can do but let the day pass and try to hit the hay stacks earlier. I firmly believe that sleep cures ALL.’ <Sigh>

Now that we’re all clear & good, let’s dip into some cold, creamy oatmeal! A bit of an oxymoron, yes? Check out my

Chocolate Banana Oatmeal

So when we think of oatmeal, ‘HOT’ immediately comes to mind, and in the summer that’s usually the last thing I would reach for in 90-degree weather, but I was craving the oats, so I thought, why not dabble with a little cold oatmeal action? And I’m praising Jesus, Mary & Joseph that I did, because ohhhhhhh maaaaaahhh goodness was it delicious!

Here’s What’s Up With This Bad Ace MoFo Recipe:

1/2 Cup of Uncooked (Gluten Free) Rolled Oats

3/4 Cup Filtered Water + pinch salt

1 T Raw Honey

1/8 tsp Cardamom

1/8 tsp Nutmeg

1/4 tsp Cinnamon

OMilk Original Almond Milk

1 T Raw Cacao Powder

2 T Raw Cacao Nibs

1/2 Frozen Banana, sliced

Directions: Let salted water reach a boil, then add oats and reduce to a simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until cooked well (all water absorbed). Before removing from heat, add spices some almond milk and honey. Stir well. Remove from heat, pour into bowl, and stick in refrigerator for 1+ hour(s). Remove from fridge, then add cacao powder, and more almond milk. Mix well. Top with cacao nibs & frozen bananas, and voíla! Gangsta sauce!

It’s awesomeness well exceeds the fact that it tastes so dang good because, well, it’s JAMMED with nourishing ingredients that work wonders for your mind + body + soul. I’m not going to break it all down now (I’ve got to get this booty ready and out the door in t-minus 20 minutes!) but find peace in knowing that EVERY SINGLE ingredient in this concoction is a WHOLE FOOD, each having their own list of health-beneficial properties.
