Oh Mah Goodnass!

August 29, 2012

Hello My Gorgeous Muñecas Preciosas with a cherry on top!

I know I’ve started the past few blog posts with a resounding

Ooooooooh Maaaaahhhh Gooooodnassss!

But Peeps. I’ve got to keep the sauce real, and ‘oh mah goodnass’ is exactly how I feel and have felt since I touched down in the OCizzle. Lots of people, lots of family, lots of friends, lots of babies, lots of driving, lots of wining, lots of dining, lots of sunshining…lots of EVERY mother loving thing, and now, I’m feeling like I need to put the breaks on.

Wait! Hold up…

Didn’t I just talk about the “importance of rest” in my previous post? Yes. Yes I did, but I kinda, sorta, didn’t really, at all, whatsoever walk that talk. <Sigh> Total FAIL! But I tried. Oooooh girl, I tried!  But, frankly, it was wishful thinking on my part. I just cannot totally “rest” while I’m here – Everyone wants of piece of the Daily Dubes, y’all! And I LOVE it, but I’m a fragile little old lady, so too much of anything sends me to the moon…And so, I accept it, embrace it and soak it all in, BUT carving out brief moments (such as this) to write and talk to all of your beautiful souls gives me great satisfaction, reward and namaste’ness.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, feeling rejuvenated already!

Now, let’s slice into the business, already…shall we?!?

Today, I’m going to keep it light and airy and share some secrets to getting glowing, dewy, healthy skinsmiley

Truth be told, I have far from perfect skin. I always struggled with acne, clogged pores, bumps, unevenness, dark circles-you name it! I took antibiotics, and even had a stint with Accutane in high school to help clear it up (and it did!)…but not forever. I will never have porcelain, poreless skin and I’m okay with that. My skin has it’s good days and it’s bad days, but recently it’s seen more good than bad.

yes

Skin changes are usually the result of hormone imbalances, and hormones can be controlled in your favor by the food choices you make!

Here are my Top 5 Tried & True Tips to Healthy, Glowing Skin

1). EAT MORE: Fats! Especially: Monounsaturated & Omega-3s, like Avocados, Walnuts, Salmon, Flaxseeds, Chia Seeds!

2). DRINK MORE: Water!

3). EAT MORE: Hydrating Fruits & Vegetables. Especially: Cucumber, Melon, Pineapple

4). EAT LESS: Dairy! Especially: Milk & Cheese (added hormones promote growth and inflammation).

5). TAKE SHOTS OF: Liquid Collagen! 1 Tablespoon / Night.  I’ve only been taking this for 2 weeks now, and I already notice a difference! My hair feels shinier and thicker, and my skin cleared up!

Perhaps one of the most important characteristics each of these tips share is that they reduce inflammation in the body. Inflammation contributes to everything that can go wrong in our bodies. Among many things, it exacerbates and serves as a breeding ground for viruses, bacteria and disease. Furthermore, when our bodies are inflamed on the inside (filled with toxins), it also translates in our physical appearance, especially our skin!

So, Lovers, when we fill our bodies up with these hydrating, detoxifying and nourishing foods and liquids, it will show in our skin, eyes, hair and nails.

Eat & Drink it Up, Buttercups!

That’s all for today!

Wishing you SMASHING Days & Eves!
